Samuel Johns is an Athabascan musician under the name AK Rebel. Having found a love for poetry at a young age, he performs as a rapper and plays traditional Athabascan drums. Also a motivational speaker and mentor, Samuel brings awareness to universal issues such as domestic violence, financial struggle, and pride for culture. In 2015, his Forget Me Not project started out as a Facebook page to help homeless individuals reconnect with family, then quickly gained a nationwide following. The group now offers a wide range of community support and has more than 20,000 members. Through his music and outreach, AK Rebel brings people together and champions the cause of nurturing Indigenous skills, talents, and art.
